TruckerFest Draws Large Crowds

This 2005 Peterbilt with Boydston car carrier, owned by Paul Stanchio, Port Washington, N.Y., won Best of Show in the Working Combo class.
Michael Most's 1999 Corvette Yellow Freightliner Classic was one of two trucks receiving Best of Show honors in the Working Bobtail class.
Randy and Jona Rebillard's 2002 Peterbilt 379, "Tired Iron," was co-winner of the Best of Show Working Bobtail award.

Forty-eight trucks competed for trophies in a variety of classes at the Ninth Annual TruckerFest, held at the Alamo Petro in Sparks, Nev., Aug. 10-11 as part of Reno's annual Hot August Nights classic car celebration.

In addition to the truck show, TruckerFest also featured Trucker Games, vendor booths and free food. The food tent served more than 1,000 free steak and chicken dinners to CDL holders over the two days. The show trucks again joined the classic cars for a "cruise" through downtown Reno on Friday night, an event one driver termed "just awesome.

"Paul Stanchio, Port Washington, N.Y., won Best of Show Working Combo with his 2005 blue Peterbilt 379, "Hot Wheels," and a 2006 Boydston car carrier.

Two truckers tied for Best of Show Working Bobtail honors - a Stars & Stripes first. Michael Most, Phoenix, Ariz., with a 1999 Corvette Yellow Freightliner Classic, "Legends & Heroes," and Randy and Jona Rebillard, Gimli, Manitoba, with a 2002 Dark Blue Peterbilt 379, "Tired Iron," shared the top honors.

Andy and Irene Zary, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, won Best of Show in the Limited Bobtail class with their beautiful purple 1959 B61 Mack. Bill and Marie Sandvik, Valley Center, Calif., won Best of Show in the Limited Mileage Combo class with a 1998 White Peterbilt 379 and Ravens flatbed trailer.
