2007 Winners

Harvey and Karen Zander, St. Louis Park, Minn., repeated as Best of Show winners in the Bobtail Class with their 2001 International 9900, “Icy Blu 2,” which features a snow-themed mural and paint scheme.	Taking Best of Show honors in the Combination Class was Jerry Beaudoin, Southington, Conn., with “SRS,” a striking 2007 black and orange Peterbilt 379 and matching 2007 J&J dump trailer.	The People’s Choice award, voted on by attendees of the Mid-America Trucking Show, went to Gary Gallopo, from Keyport, N.J., and his 1980 Yellow Kenworth W900A, “Bride of the Beast” – a limited-mileage creation with a thumping sound system.
New for this year’s show was the use of certified truck show judges. “Nothing is as important as fair and equitable judging,” says Stars & Stripes Director Bud Farquhar. “We have learned a lot over the years and wanted to take this experience, improve it, and apply it to all our five events. The competitors spend an incredible amount of time, money and effort when participating in our shows. We owe them a level of judging that ensures they receive an accurate and objective result.”Under the direction of Stars & Stripes Manager of Training Neal Holsomback, the Mid-America judges attended a two-day training session designed to give the judges, all local law enforcement officers, a clear understanding of what is expected in the judging process.
